Marvista Family Message for Sept. 24

Marvista Family Message for Sept. 24

Greetings Marvista Families,

Our students and staff have successfully completed the first five-day school week in 18 months! Each day was full of important and engaging classroom learning, active recesses and social lunches. It is exciting to be back! Thank you to our teachers and support staff who are working so hard to create welcoming environments and to accelerate learning, all while maintaining safety protocols. They are true Marivista Superheroes!

As I mentioned in last week’s message, cold and flu season is coming. The confusing part of cold and flu season this year is that many of the symptoms are similar to COVID symptoms. If your child is experiencing any COVID symptoms, we are asking that you keep them home until the symptoms have gone away or you have worked with a professional to identify the source of the symptom(s). We also ask that you call our office to let us know when your child is out sick.

If your child has been determined as a close contact with anyone who has had a positive COVID test, please do not send them to school until you have consulted with us. We will work with you on quarantine requirements and remote learning options.

If your child begins to experience any COVID symptoms at school, we will call you immediately for pick up. At that time, an administrator or nurse will explain requirements for quarantine or testing to return to school.

COVID symptoms include:

  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Chills
  • Headache
  • Stomach ache
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Muscle pain or body ache
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Fever 100.0 or higher
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Other symptoms unrelated to a preexisting condition

For more important information on COVID you can access the Health and Safety link on the Highline Public Schools website.

As I mention in each message, your partnership is so important to us. It really takes our entire community working together to keep our students safe and engaged in rigorous learning. Thank you for all that you have done and for all that you continue to do to support Marvista Elementary. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to call our main office at 206-631-4200. Our team will work to connect you with the appropriate support staff.
