Greetings Marvista Families,
As I write this message, the weather is quickly changing. The rain and winds are coming but we are not letting it slow us down. Our students and teachers continue to work hard each and every moment of their school day and for this I am incredibly proud. As we move into the fall season, we have a few important requests of our Marvista community.
Student Devices- We need all student devices to be returned to school. These important tools are used for online assessments, projects, and remote learning preparation. Since making the shift to the 1:1 model (one device for every student), our school no longer has shared classroom carts with devices. Students need their assigned device to complete important work such as iReady learning, iReady assessments, and for our fourth and fifth graders, the October administration of the SBA.
Devices will remain checked out to your child, much like a library book. If your child needs to quarantine or their classroom closes due to COVID cases, the devices will go home with them so that they can access learning during the quarantine window. They will then bring the device back to school when they are cleared to return. Our amazing teachers have set up systems for housing your student’s device, including labeling and charging. They also will be working with your student on how to access learning if a quarantine is necessary.
If your child has not yet returned their device, please make sure it is in their backpack, along with the charger on Monday morning.
Student Illness- Cold and flu season is coming. The confusing part of cold and flu season this year is that many of the symptoms are similar to COVID symptoms. If you child is experiencing any COVID symptoms, we are asking that you keep them home until the symptoms have gone away or you have worked with a professional to identify the source of the symptom(s). We also ask that you call our office to let us know when you child is out sick.
If your child has been determined as a close contact with anyone who has had a positive COVID test, please do not send them to school until you have consulted with us. We will work with you on quarantine requirements and remote learning options.
