Hello Marvista Families!
Our school team wants to thank you for your patience and understanding you continue to exhibit as we navigate the obstacles and challenges that COVID has created and continues to throw our way. It has taken a toll on everyone in one way or another, and we know that some days are easier to manage than others. Despite having to overcome these obstacles, you still choose Marvista to be your home school, and it fills us with joy to continue to serve our community of eager, smiling learners. As we continue to strengthen our bonds as a community, it is imperative that we highlight an important topic that will impact your child’s education and our ability to effectively reach and teach our students: Attendance.
Missing school means that students are missing out on opportunities to learn and establish connections with peers and adults. There is a correlation between attendance and academic achievement which basically states that the more you miss school, the less you learn. Regular school attendance is vital to our children’s successes inside and outside of school, and we invite you to peek at Highline School District’s Board Policy No. 3122 for further information regarding the description of tardies, excused and unexcused absences, and references that we classify as priority.
We understand that everyone has their own set of circumstances when it comes to their home lives, jobs, and transportation. If your family is currently experiencing any difficulties that may contribute to your child(ren) being absent from school, then please do not hesitate to contact us so we can develop and implement a plan that will best serve you and your needs.
Thank you,
Wayne Hoskins
