Hello Marvista Families,
Many Marvista Orcas have completed SBA testing! This is something to be celebrated. We are extremely proud of our 3rd - 5th grade students’ perseverance and hard work while testing and all students’ collaboration to keep our school an ideal testing environment. Time for make-ups and completing unfinished tests will be occurring in the coming weeks for students who need it. 5th graders will also be completing the WCAS (science assessment) next week, on Tuesday, 5/23/23. We are nearing the finish line!
Speaking of the finish line, we are also closing in on the end of another fantastic school year! This time of year is great for reflecting back, celebrating achievements, and making goals for the future. Here are some talking points you can use at home to facilitate this type of reflection:
- What was your favorite memory from this school year?
- What was something you accomplished?
- How did you persevere when things were hard?
- What are 3 things from the last year you are proud of?
- What are some books you read that you enjoyed?
- What are your plans or hopes for the summer break?
- What are 2 goals you have for next school year?
When we take time to reflect on our growth, it makes us feel good! It also motivates us to keep working hard to achieve success. I found this article from Prepared Parents that explains how taking the time to reflect builds self-awareness, develops resilience, boosts confidence, encourages progress, and enables innovation! Read it over for more tips on how to reflect with your child.
We of course will be celebrating the end of the school year at Marvista as well! There are many events coming up, so please make sure to check out the upcoming events section and add them to your calendar.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Moeller
