Marvista Family Message for January 6

Marvista Family Message for January 6

Happy New Year Marvista Families!

It has been so wonderful to welcome your children back to campus this week!  For many of us, Marvista is our home away from home and when we are back at school our hearts are full of happiness and joy!  The warm greetings, the smiles, and the hugs are priceless.

This year our teachers are continuing to use a district adopted curriculum for literacy (reading and writing) created by the American Reading Company, often referred to as ARC.  You may hear your child talk about experiences in their literacy classroom, including reading levels, small group times, writing projects, and power goals. Each is a critical component to the ARC curriculum designed to provide opportunities for our students to read, write, discuss, think, investigate, and solve problems. The goal of the curriculum is to ensure that every student can read, write, and think at grade level.

Over the break, we received an exciting addition to the ARC Curriculum, courtesy of our district issued ESSR funds, called ARC Bookshelf.  ARC Bookshelf is an online resource that provides our students access to a digital library full of “just right” and engaging virtual books.  Our students are using ARC Bookshelf in their classrooms and now can access this critical resource at home. If you have questions regarding ARC Bookshelf, your child’s teacher will be a great resource.

How to Access ARC Bookshelf at Home

  • Log into Classlink
  • Click ARC Bookshelf icon (see above image)
  • Search books* by Collection: All books, Toolkits (used for small groups), Thematic Libraries - Current Grade Level Unit, 100 book challenge) or IRLA levels

Thank you for always partnering with us.  We appreciate your continued support.  If you have questions, you are always welcome to call our main office at 206-631-4200.  Our team will work to connect you with the appropriate support staff.

Sincerely,
Maggie Heater
