Marvista Family Message - August 27

Marvista Family Message - August 27

Dear Marvista Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I am thrilled to be serving as your Interim Principal and look forward to seeing your children in the coming days. Our teachers are working hard to set up classrooms and to design engaging learning experiences.  We are all so excited to have everyone back on campus!

As we begin to prepare for our first day, I want to share with you that student safety will be at the forefront of every decision we make.  We will work tirelessly to partner with you and to help everyone feel comfortable and safe, while complying with guidance from OSPI and the health department.  In the coming days, we will be sharing our school safety plan.  You will have the opportunity to review the written document and to view videos that will share the procedures, routines and furniture set ups that we have developed.

Teacher Assignments

Student class placements will be completed on Friday, August 27.  You can access this information in the district Parent VUE application or by coming to school after Monday, August 30, to look at the printed lists on the west windows of our main entrance. Placing students in classrooms is a detailed process that includes beginning with individual student strengths and needs.  We then take those qualities to thoughtfully create a balanced classroom of students.

Teacher Meet and Greet

As I mentioned earlier, safety is our first priority. Because of this, we will not be hosting a typical on campus teacher meet and greet event this year. Instead, we will be doing individual virtual sessions.  Our teachers will reach out to you on Monday,  August 30 to let you know when their zoom session will be scheduled.  If you cannot make it, they will record and immediately post the session for you to watch.  Also, if you have individual circumstances and you want to connect with your classroom teacher before school starts, please let them know.

Family Connection Meetings

We are excited to share that we now have dedicated time for each of our teachers to connect with families.  This family connection meeting will be a time for you to share about your child as well as for our teachers to share information and ask questions.  Your child’s teacher will reach out to you to schedule the family connection meeting.

Thank you for all that you have done and for all that you continue to do to support our students and our school community.  If you have any questions, you are always welcome to call our main office at 206-631-4200.  Our amazing team will work to connect you with the appropriate support staff.

Sincerely,
Maggie Heater
Interim Principal
Marvista Elementary
