No Cost Meals for 2021-22

No Cost Meals for 2021-22

Free breakfast, free lunch, full bellies! During the 2021-22 school year, all enrolled students can participate in their school’s breakfast and lunch program at no cost.

Research has shown there is a crucial relationship between nutrition and academic performance. We offer quality meals to set our students up for success every day. Menus are planned by a registered dietitian to meet USDA specifications based on the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Many items are scratch-made. Staff in four production kitchens throughout Highline bake fresh rolls, french bread, cornbread and desserts with whole grains and added fruits, vegetables or legumes. We also prepare many entrees from scratch including spaghetti and meat sauce, lasagna, chicken salad, pozole, chicken pho, butternut squash curry stew, and macaroni and cheese.

Due to potential supply issues, menus will be posted online every Friday for the following week. Find a link to menus on your school homepage under the icon “Meals” and at highlineschools.org/meals

Students and families can enhance or supplement meals they bring from home with school meals. The school meal is no cost if a student selects a minimum of three components, for example, milk, vegetables and fruit.

Students who are enrolled in Highline Virtual Academy or other remote learning will be able to access no-charge daily meals at our one open site at the Olympic Site. Meal service times will be communicated directly to Virtual Academy families and posted online.

We Still Need Some Information

Certain school funding is based on the percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. Please help your school receive the full amount of funding available so we can provide your child all the services they are eligible to receive, which may include health and wellness services, fee waivers, and before/after school academic and enrichment programs.
