Dear Marvista Families,
I hope you are enjoying your summer! I am writing to share some personal news.
Serving as the Marvista principal for the past seven years has been an incredible season in my life. I am so proud of all that we have accomplished as a community on behalf of our students. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to lead this amazing school and work alongside some of the most skilled teachers and staff members I have ever encountered. I love our students very much and count it a blessing to be part of their journey. I have also enjoyed partnering with all of you.
It is because of this that it is bittersweet to share that I am leaving Marvista to serve the broader Highline community as the Director of Social Emotional Learning. Leaving Marvista was a very difficult decision for me. I consider the community home, and students and staff family. As difficult as this decision has been for me, I look forward to making a districtwide impact in a subject area I care deeply about and feel is critically important for our students K-12.
Due to the time of the year, Superintendent Susan Enfield has decided to seek an internal interim principal candidate for the 2021-22 school year. This interim principal will work alongside Marvista staff to keep moving forward with the work we are already invested in while we search for a permanent principal. In the spring, there will be a selection process for the permanent principal with staff and family engagement.
There will be an interview process for the interim principal in July and a selection will be made by early August.
I wish the timing were different and I had the opportunity to say goodbye to your children in person. I will work with the new principal to find some way to have closure in the fall. It has truly been an honor serving as your principal. I am hoping to still see many of you around as I will continue to be a Marvista parent for several more years!
Best wishes for a very bright future,
